My Story
My primary career as a professional engineer immersed me in the development and sales of wireless data communications systems and related software solutions. This experience required pinpointing from the complexities at hand what really 'made the difference' for a given objective or customer’s interests. Regarding skiing, I was introduced to the sport in early years but my skiing really began as an adult, with most of my understanding about skiing technique occurring in recent years. The freshness of my learning and my knack for pinpointing what ‘makes the difference’ allows me to describe the hows and whys of skiing in concise and simple terms. My goal is to provide a clear perspective in order to help you advance your understanding and enjoyment of this alluring and captivating sport.
Skiing mirrors a complex open-ended problem with myriad factors at play. As with any complex problem, fact finding and discovery is the first step to an effective solution. Next comes formulating a practicable solution concept that can be tested for effectiveness. Testing flushes out new understanding which leads to refining the concept, ultimately arriving at an approach that yields a desired result. More often than not, the simpler that approach and the more effectively it addresses the crux of a well-understood problem, the more outstanding the result.
Skiing may present complexities, but at its core what needs doing can be simplified to a few key focuses. My quest remains to distill the number of focuses to as few as possible, without compromising, and indeed, by keeping things simple, enabling all the versatility and excitement that skiing has to offer.
I'm happy to be a part of your journey. Congratulations on your desire to learn; I'm confident that your pursuit and persistence will reap many deserved rewards.
